Smart India Hackathon (An Initiative of AICTE in association with MHRD)
AICTE in association with MHRD organizes Smart India Hackathon every year. it is a nationwide initiative to provide students with a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving. this event has started by Govt. of India (MHRD) in association with AICTE, a Persistent system in 2017. SIH 2017 was the first event conducted nationwide and Teams from all over India participated in a huge amount. The first three editions SIH2017, SIH2018 and SIH2019 proved to be extremely successful in promoting innovation out of the box thinking in young minds especially engineering students from across India.
The Challenges faced within various Ministries, Departments, Industries, PSUs and NGOs to create world-class Problems students find solutions for some of the top organization including industries in the world, thus helping the Private sector to hire the best minds from across the nation. VIIT has received two awards in SIH Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative to provide students with a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving.
VIIT students are greatly involved in this activity. the selection process for the Grand finale of SIH is done at the college level by conducting an internal hackathon, where will call industry expert as Judge and Top teams will be sent all over India at various Nodal center for the grand finale.
Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology has won the Smart India Hackathon, a nationwide event organized by AICTE in association with MHRD (SIH 2020) from 1st August 2020 to 3rd August 2020 across various centers in India.
Winner: Team Agastya Won 1st Prize of Rs. 1 Lakh in Virtual Edition of Smart India Hackathon 2020 for the problem statement - "A mobile app with a virtual reality-based gallery for heritage museums of Andaman and Nicobar Islands."
